Professor Robert builds and analyzes mathematical models to study biological phenomena. His research focuses on developing models to study ecological, evolutionary, meteorological, environmental, and anthropogenic processes underlying the emergence, spread, and control of infectious diseases.
His recent work has centered primarily on utilizing models to investigate potential drivers of disease emergence in naïve populations, to predict transmission in endemic populations, and to design and investigate potential disease control programs. The majority of this work has focused on mosquito-borne diseases like dengue, Zika, and malaria.
