Dr. Xu's research lies in the intersection of algebraic geometry, algebraic combinatorics, and representation theory.
Flag varieties are central in my research. They arise as quotients of linear algebraic groups, whose representation theory is closely related to the geometry of these spaces. It is often possible to characterize geometric properties of flag varieties in combinatorial terms, resulting in a rich interplay between geometry and combinatorics.
