Jessica Hurdus

Senior Instructor
  • Associate Director of Undergraduate Advising in Mathematical Sciences

Jessica is a proud two-time Hokie, earning her B.S. in Mathematics (Applied Discrete option) with a minor in Computer Science in 2008 and her M.S. in Mathematics in 2009. She began her career in the Math Department as an instructor, teaching courses ranging from the First-Year Experience course Discovering Mathematics (MATH 1004–1044) to Applied Combinatorics and Graph Theory (MATH 3134).

Through her time in the classroom, Jessica discovered a passion for supporting students beyond course content, helping them explore opportunities, navigate challenges, and find their own path in mathematics. What began as a teaching career naturally evolved into academic advising, and she became the Math Department's first Undergraduate Advising Coordinator.

In 2026, Jessica began her current position as the College of Science's Associate Director for Undergraduate Advising in Mathematical Sciences, where she helps shape the academic journeys of students across the College pursuing degrees in the mathematical sciences.
