Dr. Antonides' scholarship concentrates on building psychological models that capture and explain students' mathematical experiences.

He is especially interested in investigating how students' multiplicative understandings (i.e., their developing abilities to coordinate multiple levels of numerical units), spatial structuring, and actions on perceptual materials inform their mathematical reasoning -- particularly within the domain of enumerative combinatorics.

More broadly, Dr. Antonides is interested in the role of abstraction, symbolization, and generalization in mathematics learning; in undergraduate mathematics education; and in the mathematical preparation of future teachers.
