Applications invited: STRIVE for MORE Undergraduate Workshop
September 3, 2021
Success Through Rewarding, Inclusive Virtual Experiences for Mathematics: Opportunities in Research and Education (STRIVE for MORE) is holding a virtual undergraduate workshop via ZOOM on
September 25, 2021 from 12 - 5 pm Eastern.
The purpose is to engage undergraduate students in highly relevant mathematics tied to applications that address societal needs and encourage them to consider graduate studies and careers in mathematics.
Applications from students who are currently undergraduates majoring in mathematics or a closely related discipline, or those students who are considering such a major are welcome. MORE specifically targets and prioritizes the participation of female, minority, and/or first-generation college students. First-generation college students and students from underrepresented groups in mathematics are especially encouraged to apply.
The active workshop format engages students in highly relevant mathematics tied to applications that address societal needs. The conference program will feature an invited presentation, panel sessions, and breakout sessions. More information can be found on the conference website: MORE2021.
Applications are due by September 12th.
STRIVE for MORE is a cooperative effort between Clemson University and Virginia Tech, funded by NSF. It follows the virtual event MORE2020, last fall at Virginia Tech. An in-person MORE workshop is planned for 2022.
The workshop is being organized by Nicole Bannister, Juliane Chung, Lauren Childs, Lea Jenkins, Gretchen Matthews, and Keri Sather-Wagstaff.
