Are you wondering what you can do with your Math Degree? This semester the Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics (SIAM) Student Chapter at Virginia Tech will host a number of talks by mathematicians working in industry. The speakers will describe the path they followed to reach this point in their careers and also tell us more about their industry and how mathematics is used. This is a great opportunity to meet the speaker and learn about careers in mathematics. The presentation will be roughly 30 minutes followed by Q&A.

The first scheduled talk is this Friday, September 25th at 4:00 PM. The (SIAM) Student Chapter at Virginia Tech will host a live Zoom presentation by Will Frey from Two Six Labs. Will graduated  in 2014 with a Master of Science in Mathematics. During his time at Virginia Tech, Will, along with Patrick O'Neil and Evan Mendhini received an "Outstanding" rating at the Mathematical Contest in Modeling (MCM).

Will's talk will describe his career path, discuss machine learning in the industrial setting,  and share general advice for extra skills to hone that might not be traditionally taught in the classroom.

Members from outside Virginia Tech are invited to join this meeting.

Registration for this event is required.  Once you fill out the information on the registration form,  you will receive an email with the link to join the Zoom meeting.

Email Jovan Zigic (jovan@vt.edu)  or Mehdi Bouhafara (bmehdi@vt.edu) if you have questions.
