Applications invited: STRIVE for MORE Undergraduate Workshop
August 28, 2020
STRIVE for MORE is a new, virtual workshop to engage undergraduate students in highly relevant mathematics tied to applications that address societal needs and encourage them to consider graduate studies and careers in mathematics.
Participants will learn about cutting edge research which addresses societal needs from a leading mathematician. They will engage in discussions with graduate students and participate in panel discussions on research, summer opportunities and pathways to mathematical careers.
Applications from students who are currently undergraduates majoring in mathematics or a closely related discipline, or those students who are considering such a major are welcome. First-generation college students and students from underrepresented groups in mathematics are especially encouraged to apply.
STRIVE for MORE is a cooperative effort between Clemson University and Virginia Tech, funded by NSF. It follows the successful on-campus event MORE, last fall at Virginia Tech, and the hope is to host an in-person MORE workshop in 2021.
More information and applications are available at MORE 2020.
The workshop is being organized by Nicole Bannister, Juliane Chung, Lauren Childs, Lea Jenkins, Gretchen Matthews, and Sean Sather-Wagstaff.
