Lauren Childs named Cliff and Agnes Lilly Faculty Fellow by Board of Visitors
October 25, 2020
The Virginia Tech Board of Visitors named Mathematics Department faculty member Dr. Lauren Childs the Cliff and Agnes Lilly Faculty Fellow. The appointment is for 3 years and is renewable.
In naming her a fellow, they referenced her cutting edge research, "Dr Childs conducts reasearch in mathematical biology and combines mathematical models, theoretical analysis, and biological insight to understand infectious disease dynamics, such as those of the current outbreak of COVID-19."
You can read more about her appointment in the recent VTNews article.
She joins a distinguished group of faculty members who were recently appointed fellows. Last year the Board of Visitors honored Dr. Serkan Gugercin with the Class of 1950 Professorship. And earlier this year, Dr. Eileen Martin was appointed a Luther and Alice Hamlett Junior Fellow.
