    Sam Bender , bio

    Sam is a PhD student working in model reduction and numerical linear algebra, with a focus on periodic models. Under the guidance of Chris Beattie, he studies linear time-periodic systems. Sam serves as President of the SIAM Student Chapter, which he helped restart after two years of inactivity. Sam is an organizer of the 2026 Young Mathematicians in Model Order Reduction (YMMOR) conference, a student-led event hosted at Virginia Tech.
